Since the Covid-19 hit the entire world early last year, we have at FlightLogger been keeping a close eye on how flight training activities have developed across all the training organisations that use the FlightLogger platform for managing their daily operations.

Based on the extensive data we have available from 132 FlightLogger partners, we are monitoring the average number of active students per academy which gives us a good idea about the overall activity level. Also, we keep track of how the total number of registered flights develops in order to monitor actual flight training operations across the training organizations.

This update covers data collected from our partners in October and November 2021

Significant improvement of flight training activities the last two months

After several months where the average number of active students per academy has been continuously around 15 percent below what it was before the Covid-19 pandemic, data from the last two months show a significant improvement.

From September to October this year the average number of students per academy increased from 78,5 to 85,6, which is a 9,0 % increase. Staying at 85,6 in November, it looks like training activities have in fact increased to a better level over the last months, which is positive news despite the fact that Covid-19 is still a huge challenge worldwide.

Development in registered flight activity

While we do see an improvement when we look at the number of students actively doing flight training, our data on the total number of weekly flights registered by the academies does not show the same significant improvement. Flight activities have been going a bit up and down but has overall remained at the same level looking across October and November compared to the previous months.

However, this must be weighed up by the fact that we have previous years seen a decrease in flight activities towards the end of the year, where weather conditions affect many academies in the northern hemisphere. Thus the fact that flight activities have remained at the same level the last two months probably indicates the same positive tendency that we found above.

Covid19 update - weekly flights

Looking at October and November as a whole, pilot training seems to be at a better place than it was just a couple of months ago. This confirms our general impression from talking with numerous flight training organizations all over the world, where we sense a more positive atmosphere and willingness to look further ahead compared to earlier this year.

We look forward to updating you on our incoming data and any notable developments in the coming months.
