This morning we released the seventh major update of the year to all our partners. The absolute highlight of this update is an innovative integration that automatically retrieves and stores flight tracks that users can view and download from inside the FlightLogger platform, and open in Google Earth and similar apps. This is the result of a new cooperation between FlightLogger and AirNav RadarBox, a leading online provider of real-time aircraft and flight information.

The new flight tracking features take advantage of the fact that ADS-B flight tracking data is increasingly becoming a requirement for aircraft across the world. AirNav RadarBox uses the ADS-B (and transponder mode-S) data coming from aircraft to monitor and display flight data via a network of more than 20,000 data feeders, and that’s what makes it interesting for flight training organisations using the FlightLogger platform.

“By tapping into the flight data from AirNav RadarBox and making it available inside the FlightLogger platform, our partners can dispose expensive aircraft tracking systems that otherwise needed to be installed in their aircraft to produce this kind of tracking, and simply make use of what’s already equipped on most aircraft”, explains FlightLogger CEO Kenneth Jeppesen. “With the new added features, relevant aircraft flight tracks are automatically retrieved from AirNav RadarBox and stored within our partners’ FlightLogger platform. This way instructors and students can review flight paths and other data already at debriefing.”

Additionally, AirNav RadarBox flight tracks can with a single click be attached to relevant flight sessions logged in FlightLogger, which means all the relevant information concerning a flight session is gathered in one place in case it’s needed later on.

The new integration comes as a natural next step following one of our latest additions, an in-app departure/arrival board customised for flight training that partners can display on internal info screens or access on their own device. The departure/arrival board already features one-click access to real-time monitoring of live flights, and the option to now retrieve and store flight tracks automatically inside the FlightLogger platform ensures that historical flight tracks are still available months and years later.

With the new flight tracking features added, FlightLogger partners not only improve safety by being able to live-monitor the location of their aircraft. They also become able to document airspace compliance by storing tracks of all their flights. Not least, they provide even better pilot training tools by enabling the student and instructor to review flight tracks during debriefing.

The new AirNav RadarBox integration is just one of many developments from FlightLogger. “We are already looking into ways of improving the value of this integration even further, and we have other exciting features in the pipeline as well. I don’t want to reveal what’s next, other than we look forward to share more new features soon”, Kenneth Jeppesen says.

The new integration with AirNav RadarBox is available for free for all FlightLogger partners, but requires an AirNav RadarBox business account along with an API subscription plan. A business account can be obtained for free by becoming an AirNav RadarBox data feeder, and more information on how to become a data feeder can be found on AirNav RadarBox’s website.
