Meeting the Demand for European Certification – Locally
ALT Academy, a leading FlightLogger-powered aviation training provider based at O. R. Tambo International Airport, is taking a major leap in accessibility and scalability.
In July 2025, ALT Academy announced a strategic partnership with Easy Pilot – South Africa’s first official EASA exam centre – to establish a second EASA examination venue at its Johannesburg campus. This move brings European-standard certification directly to South African soil, reducing the barriers for aspiring pilots across the continent.
The Challenge
As demand for EASA certification rises in Africa, aviation schools face a familiar obstacle: building enough local infrastructure to deliver both exams and simulator training without compromising quality or compliance.
ALT Academy needed a solution that could:
- Expand exam access without disrupting day-to-day operations
- Accommodate a growing volume of cadets and certification requests
- Ensure consistency in records, curriculum delivery, and compliance
- Provide scalable, cloud-based systems to connect all teams and training milestones
The Solution: Strategic Partnership + Operational Backbone
By teaming up with Easy Pilot, ALT Academy launched a second EASA test venue – adding to the success of the existing Grand Central site – and introduced access to a Full Flight A320 Simulator, scheduled to go live by October 2025.
Behind the scenes, FlightLogger’s digital platform plays a key role in this scale-up. From training records and scheduling to exam tracking and reporting, ALT Academy uses FlightLogger to:
- Standardize student progress across campuses
- Support compliant data management for EASA requirements
- Streamline simulator scheduling and resource planning
- Maintain full operational oversight—even as capacity increases
Results: Growth with Control
With this infrastructure in place, ALT Academy now enables pilots to:
- Complete ground school
- Take EASA theory exams
- Train on a certified A320 simulator
…all within one streamlined pipeline – and all within South Africa.
This unified journey doesn’t just benefit students. It also positions ALT Academy as a regional leader in high-standard, digitally managed aviation training.
Supporting the Next Generation of Global Pilots
FlightLogger continues to support ALT Academy’s mission as they serve a growing mix of local and international cadets, ensuring seamless compliance and training quality on an operations scale.
