Meeting the Demand for European Certification – Locally
ALT Academy, a leading aviation training provider based at O. R. Tambo International Airport, recently joined the growing network of aviation schools powered by FlightLogger. By adopting FlightLogger’s digital platform earlier this year, ALT Academy gained a centralized, compliant, and scalable operational backbone – a key enabler of its next big leap in accessibility and growth.
In July 2025, ALT Academy announced a strategic partnership with Easy Pilot – South Africa’s first official EASA exam centre – to establish a second EASA examination venue at its Johannesburg campus. This move brings European-standard certification directly to South African soil, reducing barriers for aspiring pilots across the continent.
The Challenge
As demand for EASA certification rises in Africa, aviation schools face a familiar obstacle: building enough local infrastructure to deliver both exams and simulator training without compromising quality or compliance.
ALT Academy needed a solution that could:
- Expand exam access without disrupting day-to-day operations
- Accommodate a growing volume of cadets and certification requests
- Ensure consistency in records, curriculum delivery, and compliance
- Provide scalable, cloud-based systems to connect all teams and training milestones
The Solution: Strategic Partnership + Operational Backbone
By teaming up with Easy Pilot, ALT Academy launched a second EASA test venue – adding to the success of the existing Grand Central site – and introduced access to a Full Flight A320 Simulator, scheduled to go live by October 2025.
The expansion was underpinned by ALT Academy’s adoption of FlightLogger earlier this year – a decision that gave them the tools to manage growth without losing oversight. FlightLogger enables the academy to:
- Standardize student progress across campuses
- Support compliant data management for EASA requirements
- Streamline simulator scheduling and resource planning
- Maintain full operational visibility as capacity scales
Results: Growth with Control
Since adopting FlightLogger, ALT Academy has been able to deliver a unified, compliant training pipeline – from ground school to simulator – while expanding their footprint in South Africa’s aviation training market.
With this infrastructure in place, pilots can now:
- Complete ground school
- Take EASA theory exams
- Train on a certified A320 simulator
…all within one streamlined, digitally managed environment – and all within South Africa.
Supporting the Next Generation of Global Pilots
This unified journey benefits more than just students – it positions ALT Academy as a regional leader in high-standard, scalable aviation training.
We’re proud to partner with ALT Academy as they continue to shape the next generation of globally certified pilots, and to see FlightLogger powering their journey from the cockpit to certification.
