On Wednesday the 8th of November at 07:00 AM UTC FlightLogger will add yet another great update with various improvements.

As some of you already know FlightLogger are currently working on a major update to the maintenance area.
The update Wednesday will be the first step towards reaching the overall goal of a new maintenance area.

All aircraft in FlightLogger will be updated with additional fields and information.
NOTE: It is of the highest importance that an administrator goes through each aircraft settings after the update!
This to ensure that all new fields and settings on the aircraft are set up correctly.

Please find below an overview of the new aircraft fields and settings.

Type drop-down

Every aircraft will have a “Type” drop-down to choose between Airplane or Helicopter.
This will control the icon used to symbolise the aircraft various places in FlightLogger.

Enable taxi

Customers have asked for a way to limit the amount inputs needed to register a flight.

Today the flight registration page requires the following as a minimum:

  • Off block
  • Airborne
  • Landing
  • On block

By removing the checkmark in “Enable taxi” on the aircraft edit page this can be limited to:

  • Off block
  • On block

Note that the “Airborne time” will still be recorded in the database and automatically be set to the same as “Block time”

Total tacho

If enabled it counts and keeps track of the total tacho time for each aircraft.
The data is updated automatically from all flights being registered in FlightLogger.

Total airborne

It counts and keeps track of the total airborne time for each aircraft.
The data is updated automatically from all flights being registered in FlightLogger.

Total landings

It counts and keeps track of the total amount of landings for each aircraft.
The data is updated automatically from all landings* being registered in FlightLogger.

As FlightLogger don’t have any information about this in its current version this field will start at 0 after the update.

*Full stop and Touch & Go

Home airport

Every aircraft will have a “Home airport”.
This is used to default “Arrival” on the flight registration page.

Current airport

Every aircraft will have a “Current airport”.
This is used to default “Departure” on the flight registration page.

The preselection of the “Departure field” from the “Current airport” can be disabled by removing the checkmark in

  • Default departure from current airport

This setting is found under Adminstration->Account settins->General

Additional add-ons

Despite being busy with the new Maintenance area the FlightLogger development team managed to also include two additional new features!

  • Calendar synchronisation of all certificate expiry dates

Every user who uses the current synchronisation of bookings from FlightLogger to their personal calendar will with this update also have all certificate expiry dates syncronised.

Still not using our calendar synchronisation?
Its easy to setup simply click on your name in the top right corner and click on “Sync with Calendar”.

  • Lesson description in hover

All schedulers using our student view to drag in lesson will with this update also have the lesson description shown in the hover!

Other changes in this update

This update includes also improvements related to the overall performance of FlightLogger.
This is a constant focus for the FlightLogger development team to ensure stability and high responsiveness as we move forward. These improvements relate to the more “geeky” area of FlightLogger and will not be described further.

Once again the FlightLogger Team would like to thank all customers for using FlightLogger and for your continues great feedback!
